DisneyMagicCation Day 1 (minus Happily Ever After)

My apologies for this post being so delayed. I could write about how work got busy and blah blah blah but no one wants to hear it and I don't want to write it!

After my solo trip in February, I quickly planned another long weekend trip with my pal Rachael. We both needed a break and a moment to get away.

When we got to the parking lot at the TTC (Magic Kingdom was our plan for the first day) a guy ran up to us in the parking lot and said, "Ok, I need a hug!" It seemed really random and then we realized he was wearing the same shirt we were.

Hands up on the ferry boat!

Excited to be here!

Welcome to the Magic Kingdom!!!

Does it get much better than Cinderella's Castle?

Park opening show at the castle

Yay the park is open!!!!  If you look up close under the clock on Cinderella's Castle, you can see the Fairy Godmother starting off the day.

Our first stop was Peter Pan's Flight. After riding, we walked through Fantasyland and found some interesting folks on the carousel.

Anastasia was looking grumpy on the carousel

And Drizella was being dramatic

I've heard about certain characters riding rides on the first go of the day but haven't actually seen it. Perhaps that's what this was? The other thing I've heard is that Alice rides on the Mad Tea Party teacup ride the first ride of the day.

To Infinity and Beyond!

Mad Tea Party (we spun the wheel a bit too much)

We met Tiana! She was excited to hear we had plans to get beignets.

Rapunzel talked with us about the floating lanterns.

And we had to hurry back to the Haunted Mansion (duh)

After meeting some princesses and riding some rides, we made our way to the Liberty Tree Tavern to see if we could check in for lunch early.

Liberty Tree Tavern is a great sit-down option in MK. They have an all you can eat choice mid-day (it's only all you can eat after 3 pm BTW) but you can also buy "a la carte" from 11-3. It wasn't very crowded when we were there so if you want a nicer option, check it out!

Mickey wanted a photoshoot and Rachael found her way into the shot.

The meatless meatloaf was REALLY good. Very meaty!

Ok now, we need to take some time to discuss. The Ooey Gooey Tavern cake had been something I'd heard about from Disney blogs for a while. It's the reason I wanted to book a meal at LTT. And let me tell you... I don't think it's an exaggeration to say, this is probably the best dessert I've ever had in my life. In. My. Life. The way I'd describe it is similar to a warm chocolate chip cookie bar with some toffee thrown in, chocolate sauce, and ice cream. There were no words for how delicious this was. I would get it again on every single Disney trip ever if I could.

After lunch, Rachael wanted to drive a carriage.

Happy and full of toffee cake.

Mickey wanted some time in the spotlight.

It was a beautiful day!

Jumping for joy in front of the castle

So happy to be here!

Obligatory resting feet picture

Always trying to do something fun on Splash Mountain

Rachael grabbed this picture before the new version of Move-it Shake it Dance Party

So great to see Maleficent back and breathing fire!

I've become obsessed with trying to get cool pictures of the castle with balloons.

Castle + balloons = <3

Tried a filter on this one. Can't decide what I think. Leave a comment below to let me know what you think of the picture!

Dinner was Pinocchio's Village Haus where I had a side salad and breadsticks. It was a nice option since I wasn't super hungry. Then we did a tad bit of shopping where I bought an Alex & Ani bracelet (I'm obsessed with them - more on that later in the trip) and we found a spot to FINALLY watch Happily Ever After in front of the castle.

Look who can be found in the murals at Pinocchio's Village Haus!

Never too many pictures of the castle...

Alright - so now a moment of honesty... I've been having issues with blogger and photo uploads. So to keep the blogs moving, I'm going to post this without the Happily Ever After photos. Hopefully my computer gets it together and I can share Happily Ever After next!
