As I walked in, there were bubbles floating around and I popped one. I turned to find a 10 year old boy giving me a death glare. You snooze, you lose, kid. Best to learn it now.
I started off by looking around for the Mickey's 90th Birthday ears at a shop rumored to have one pair. When I got there, they could find none. Ah well. On to the next thing!
There was a HUGE line to meet Mike and Sully - it was February 3, 2019 - which is 2319! If you haven't seen Monster's Inc, a 2319 is the code for when a human item contaminates the monster world. Those who remember the movie might recall poor George coming out of a kid's room with a sock stuck to his back. Once his partner spots the sock, he shouts, "2319!" and a hazmat crew comes out to decontaminate the scene and poor George, who is shaved. Many people were walking around with 2319 shirts on and some folks even had socks pinned to their backs! It was quite cute and a happy coincidence that I ended up at DHS on this day!
Rather than wait in line right away, I went to watch the movie in One Man's Dream, which made me cry. Afterwards I waited in the 45+ minute long line to see Mike and Sully. It was worth it - I don't think I'd have another chance to meet them on 2319!
Sully and Mike on 2.3.19
They're a little awkward to hug and high-five
I think this dress was a replica of Mary Poppins' dress also in the One Man's Dream area
Once I returned from Monstropolis, I went over into the Municiberg Area where they have set up an Incredibles area. For anyone who hasn't been to DHS in a while, this is the little street that used to be Pixar Place (where the original entrance for Midway Mania was located). I had to stop for a nom nom cookie! (If you've seen Incredibles 2, you know that Jack Jack has a reaction to nom nom cookies.)
There are little Jack Jacks around...
Along with evidence of his superpowers...
Ran through this brick wall...
And climbed up this one!
He even got to the top of the gift shop!
In the meet and greet line for Edna Mode, there are all kinds of iconic Edna quotes
Mr. Incredible's superset
Elastigirl's supersuit
Violet's supersuit
Frozone's superset
NO CAPES
Dash's supersuit
Some of Edna's covers
Edna approved of my outfit.
So cute!
Yep. Here I am, just being incredible.
My nom nom cookie! This was huge (more like a tart) so it was really like my lunch that day. Mickey was really wanting to keep the cookie for himself.
I sat and enjoyed my cookie without my shoes. Tired feet at Disney enjoy being free.
At this point, I had plenty of time to sit and people-watch. This was on Super Bowl Sunday and I noticed a lot of people in the parks in Pats gear. The next plan I had was my fast pass for Midway Mania!
I also had a fast pass for Tower of Terror, naturally. Along the way I took out my Mickey and took a number of pictures at his request!
Mickey was nervous about Tower of Terror.
But, for some reason, he still wanted to pose.
You are about to enter... the Twilight Zone.
Mickey wanted me to take his picture inside the Hollywood Tower Hotel to prove he survived the ride!
I loved the pictures with the Sunshine Ranch Market sign in the background
This might be a favorite from this trip.
"get the stores behind me, Amanda!"
Ok, obviously not my hair color but I loved this snapchat filter!!!
Finally, it was time to check in for my reservation at Hollywood & Vine for Minnie's Silver Screen Dine. I was excited to try this as I hadn't been to Hollywood & Vine since 2013.
This is supposed to be themed like all the characters are at an awards show!
Mickey and me on the red carpet
He really liked my shirt - aren't we cute!
I was in a perfect position to get some great pictures of Minnie and Mickey together
Mickey thought about a cocktail but said, "mmm, better not."
I have to say, I felt like Minnie and I had a connection! Almost like she knew me. She was very friendly and held my face in her hands when we met!
The food was good - I'm not sure that I captured pictures of everything. I enjoyed peel and eat shrimp, mussels, pork loin, flank steak, lobster macaroni and cheese, gnocchi, roasted beets, and other delicious goodies.
Daisy was in a twirly dress with a jewel crusted top!
Goofy
Donald looking dapper
Goofy was kind enough to strike a pose
Mickey offered to pay the bill but I couldn't let him.
Overall I really enjoyed this dining experience. The food was really good and it felt worth the money.
I love looking at the lights around Echo Lake at night.
The outside of Hollywood & Vine
We took a few pictures by the fountain.
Just a few more pictures, Amanda!
I love the neon in this park
As I walked to the exit there were a couple more photo opportunities... so naturally I posed.
This was a cute prop.
I think they told me to put my hand up like that - good strategy for hiding a double chin!
"Don't worry Amanda, you'll be back real soon!"
You have one more blog to come from this trip - the Bon Voyage Breakfast!
