Welcome Foolish Readers

I'm your Host, your Blog Host... muahahahaha!

First, allow me to welcome you to this space where I hope to share the joy I get from all things Disney! Thank you for joining me here! The Haunted Mansion is my all-time favorite ride at Disney and this blog will be themed accordingly. That said, it is not my intention to copy any preexisting blog title, description, etc. Any similarity to other blogs and sites is coincidental and probably a testament to how much we all love the Haunted Mansion!

The title of this blog, Experiencing Disney with Ghoulish Delight is definitely a clear reference to the Haunted Mansion. The URL starts with roomfor1000 - why? Because there are 999 happy haunts in residence at the Haunted Mansion; there is room for 1000. Any volunteers?

Kindly step all the way in please as I take you on a journey of some of my favorite aspects of Disney. My goal is to post one Disney-related blog per week. These blogs will likely include reviews, trip recaps, my thoughts about rumors or movies, hopes for the future of WDW, etc. Spoiler alert: there will probably be more than one post per week in the near future as I recap my most recent spooky visit to Walt Disney World!

Right now, I'm a thirty-something who works in higher education and lives in Virginia. I fancy myself a writer (that's what I want to be when I grow up) and, like many, an amateur photographer. I have gotten some really cool long-exposure photos at Disney but I am still practicing. That said, I may try to learn how to watermark pictures as I add them to this blog. In 2018, I became an Annual Passholder at Walt Disney World for the first time ever (I still pinch myself each time I think about it!) and am doing all I can during this year to explore as much of the resort as possible (and get the most bang for my buck)!

Here's what you won't get here:
-Bashing of Walt Disney World or the cast members
-Reviews of the fanciest things at WDW
-Information on Disney Vacation Club (DVC) or Club 33 (I'm not a member of either)

Despite what seems like frequent trips, I do work in higher education and my compensation is what it is. I am very fortunate to have put aside my tax return to fund this year of being a passholder and have been happy to receive gift cards from friends and family towards my trips. Unless there is a bank error in my favor, don't expect to see dining reviews from Victoria & Albert's, room pictures from the Grand Floridian, or all about my experiences with a VIP tour guide (can't afford DVC either). Also, to clarify, I have been to Universal. But that's not what this blog is about.

What you will get here:
-Honest thoughts about my experiences at WDW through a realistic lens
-Complaints about my feet hurting (and what I try to do to alleviate that pain)
-A plethora of pictures, both good and bad, taken by me, friends I go with, and photopass photographers
-Some tips that have worked for me

It's important to keep in mind that at present I am single and do not have children. So I won't be able to share a genuine perspective of what it's like to have any age of child at WDW. I am the aunt to three kids who really love visiting WDW so you may see me reference them now and then but most of this will be my experience visiting as a young-ish adult.

It's pretty basic! I love visiting Walt Disney World and the magic I feel while on property. Is Disney a perfect company? No. Have they made some mistakes throughout their history? Of course. Is it expensive to visit? Yes. I recognize the privilege that I have every time I set foot on Disney property. All that said, for me, Disney is an escape and I look forward to sharing the joy and magic with all who visit this page.
